Dear Dr. and Mrs. Bristow:

Thank you for your letter concerning the National Capital Commission (NCC) land holdings.

I have noted your concern about future use of the NCC land. A number of constituents have made their views known to me on this matter.

Since 1990 the NCC has been conducting assessments of its undeveloped land as part of its Urban Corridors study and the overall revision to the Plan for Canada's Capital.

The nine urban corridors, which are currently used as green or vacant space, are being re-examined for potential Capital Open Space, for transportation purposes, for municipal purposes, or for disposal. The NCC's aim is to achieve compatible federal, regional and municipal objectives. The regional, municipal and public consultations will take place this fall.

Please be assured that I am giving serious consideration to the issue of NCC land use, especially in Ottawa South. I Will endeavour to keep you informed about the public consultation process.

I appreciate your taking the time to share your concerns with me. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if I can ever be of assistance to you.

Yours very truly,

John Manley
